Directions

  1. I completely forgot to do this but usually for this craft, we spray paint the styrofoam balls the day before. I use a large garbage bag outside and lay all of the balls out. Using green or black spray paint, paint all of the styrofoam balls. It looks good and more floral-like if you do this. However, we made these flowers last minute so ease was the goal, and paint was not involved. My kids like to do this craft both ways so the choice is yours.
  2. Use scissors to cut the pipe cleaners to lengths of about 3-4 inches (depending on the size you would like the flower petals).
  3. Curve the center of each pipe cleaner and stick each end into the foam ball.
  4. Repeat until you have pretty colored petals around the entire ball.
  5. Create small flower buds by winding a colored pipe cleaner around one end of a green one.

You can attach the flower buds to flowers by winding the stem of each together (see picture below).

Such a cute craft for the kids to do, always looking for new ways to keep them busy too during the summer. These would look so pretty in a vase sitting on the table by the front door in my home. Going to gather the materials for this so the kids can make them. So easy too!
