McKenna American Girl’s 2012 Girl of the Year

I am really excited about the 2012 doll of the year. My daughter, Annabella has been taking gymnastics since she could pretty much walk.

She has always been a tumbler and loves doing anything gymnastics related. In fact, anything health and fitness related interests my daughter.

Annabella is also a doll lover. She loves American Girl, Barbie and pretty much any kind of doll that she can take care of. She has always had a very caring and nurturing spirit.

So when she saw the new American Girl doll for 2012, she was really speechless.

MEET MCKENNA

Meet McKenna, the 2012 Girl of the Year!

She's a determined girl who uses her strengths to turn challenges into triumphs. The McKenna doll is 18″ tall, with brilliant blue eyes that open and close.

She has long, caramel-colored hair that can be pulled high for gymnastics practice, or styled up in twists for a fancy occasion.

My daughter was so excited to get an American Girl doll that fits so closely in her life. She is just beyond thrilled that her doll is into gymnastics just like she is.

WHAT COMES IN THE BOX

The McKenna doll comes in a sporty outfit just right for flips and twists:

• A sporty striped dress with flutter sleeves, a dropped waist, and a pleated skirt
• Teal leggings that stretch for the splits!
• Strappy slide-on shoes

• A hairband, to sweep her hair back during gymnastics practice

The McKenna doll has a huggable cloth body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl. Includes the McKenna paperback book—an engaging story that will inspire girls to go for their goals, one day at a time.

There are even some fabulous accessories to go along with your doll. The gymnastics accessories are very similar to the ones we have for my daughter so she is already asking for these as well.

We have long had a love affair with American Girl. My daughter started with the Bitty babies and then quickly moved to the full size dolls. She has been in the American Girl fashion shows and we even took a girls trip to New York City a few years ago where all the girls brought their dolls.

I love the stories behind the dolls of the year. American really tries hard to tie each doll into something that is current, relatable and happening right now in the lives of girls everywhere.
