Peppermint Flavored Sugar Recipe {ALL NATURAL}

Peppermint Flavored Sugar

This beautifully displayed sugar is delicious stirred into your coffee, hot tea, or hot cocoa. Sprinkle it over sugar cookies, use it in place of plain sugar in recipes or as a sugar rim on your favorite holiday drinks. Use any pretty bottle, canister, or mason jar and dress it up with festive holiday ribbons and a pretty tag. One of the best features of this recipe is that it is inexpensive to make and is a fabulous gift. Take some with you to the next get together for a nice hostess gift.

PEPPERMINT SUGAR RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • 8-12 fresh peppermint leaves
  • 12 cups of sugar (we use Dixie Crystals)
  • airtight bottle or jar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Remove all labels from jar, wash it thoroughly, and make sure it is completely dry inside before you begin filling it.
  2. Start by bruising the peppermint leaves to release the natural oils. I have found the best method for this is to lay the leaves on a cutting board and gently tap with the backside of a spoon.
  3. Layer an inch sugar, place a couple bruised peppermint leaves on top of sugar, layer more sugar, and more leaves. Repeat until your jar is full.
  4. Set in a cool, dark place for 2 to 3 weeks and allow the natural flavors to be absorbed by the sugar.
