Motorola T600 Talkabout Waterproof Radio

For some reason, I have always loved walkie-talkies. Since I was kid and we had a set then, I have always had walkie-talkies in my house. Until last year when my kids tried to play with them in the lake near our house. One time and they were dead.

We were recently sent the Motorola T600 Talkabout Waterproof Radio to test out in our family and we took them to the late the moment that they arrived.

Feature details of the Motorola T600 Talkabout Waterproof Radio

Be Hands-free
With iVOX/VOX acting like a speakerphone and allowing hands-free communication, you can keep on moving without stopping to answer a call.

22 Channels Each with 121 Privacy Codes
With 22 channels and 121 privacy codes, totaling 2,662 combinations, it’s easy to find an available channel.

Customize Call Tones
Choose what your callers hear before you start speaking by selecting one of the 20 call tones.

Extra Power When You Need It Most
Push-To-Talk (PTT) power boost allows you to extend the transmission range by increasing the transmitter power output. It also saves battery life when no power boost is necessary.

Compatible with Any Radio
You can communicate with other FRS/GMRS radios regardless of brand by being on the same channel and privacy code.

Eco Smart
Most of the energy wasted when using a mobile device occurs during the charge. This radio consumes less power during its idle condition.

Quickly Find a Channel
Use the scanning feature to see which channels are currently in use.

Low Battery Alert
Low battery alert reminds you when batteries are running low.

Keypad Lock
The keypad lock prevents your personalized settings from being inadvertently changed.

IP67 Waterproof*
Count on the T600 H2O two-way waterproof radio to keep you connected whether on land or at sea.  With its IP67 standard, the T600 H2O withstands constant submersion of up to 1m for 30 minutes and repels the heaviest rain.

Floats* Face Up, Water-activated Flashlight for Easy Retrieval
Through meticulous engineering, the radio floats and is visible on the water surface. And with the water-activated flashlight, it's even easier to find.

Be Prepared for an Emergency
This radio includes an emergency alert feature, allowing you to enjoy your escape to the great outdoors with confidence that others can be informed of any dangers that may come your way. When the alert button is activated, the radio transmits an alert siren followed by transmission of spoken or incidental sounds. This allows you to send the signal to other radios and warn of impending danger.

You can also use the whistle belt clip to let others know that you need help. In addition, there’s a built-in LED flashlight for peace-of-mind during evening adventures, unexpected emergencies and power outages.

Advanced Built-in Flashlight with White and Red LEDs

Select the white LED setting on the built-in flashlight to light your way during evening activities, unexpected emergencies or power outages. If your adventure takes place when it's dark, for example, if you’re stargazing or hunting at night, and you need to view maps, charts or other papers, switch to the red LED setting.  This will allow you to read what you need while preserving your night vision.

Know the Weather In Advance

Keep updated with real-time weather conditions by turning on one of 11 weather channels or initiating weather alerts. NOAA radio service may not be available in all areas. Check with your local weather office for frequency and details, or visit www.weather.gov/nwr (Canada: www.msc.ec.gc.ca/msb/weatheradio).

Be Discreet

Use the VibraCall™ feature where ringing can be intrusive.

Power through Your Adventures

There are two ways to power your radio: use the included NiMH rechargeable batteries for up to 9 hours or use three AA batteries for up to 23 hours. To recharge the NiMH batteries, choose from one of three ways: connect it to your vehicle adaptor or your computer.  Or plug the Y cable charging adaptor into an outlet.  This cable features dual micro-USB connectors, so you can charge two radios at once.

Optional Extended Batteries

Enjoy hours of uninterrupted outdoor activities by selecting a high capacity battery. (High capacity battery sold separately.)

  1. Can I say that I am a walkie talkie nerd!! I didn’t even know they made these still. I love these and will be checking them out!! So cool!

  2. Pam

This would be perfect for my friends with a lake house. They don’t like to take their cell phones out on the boat but with these it would be no problem.

  3. Catherine Sargent

This looks like a great radio. This would be great when we go fishing and split up down the beach.

  4. Oh my goodness these would have been like a dream come true when I was a child – I wonder if I could convince the other half we need some, you know just in case of emergency. x

  5. These are awesome and would really come in handy. I could see my husband using them on hunting trips, or bringing them along to a crowded theme park.

  6. OH this is really neat, I need a waterproof radio for sure!

  7. I can definitely see this being good to give everyone when camping. It might be useful in emergencies too.

These are a super nice set! I also like how bright they are, you wouldnt lose them. A great feature is the flashlight, so many times a battery is dead. These would be invaluable if a disaster happened and phones or other communications were out.

  9. Nicole Escat

Oh, I thought radios are almost gone. This is a nice one, what a great feature. This is perfect fro beach outing.

  10. These sound great to have for emergencies but I can imagine loads of summertime fun with them as well. I had no idea there were waterproof walkie talkies.

  11. My grandma lived the next state over, and I have very fond memories of the last time my siblings road tripped out to see her. Since there are so many of us, we had to caravan. At one point there was tons of traffic, so we were stopped almost completely. We communicated by writing each other messages on Etch-a-Sketch boards & holding them out the window. So funny to think of life pre-cellphones. Walkie Talkies are a way better idea & still a lot of fun.

  12. This would be great for our beach trips. My girls like to go back into the mud pits where we can’t see them (They are teens so it’s ok lol). This way we could keep tabs on them without worrying that they are dropping their expensive phones in the muddy water.

  13. Oh wow! These sound great! I love walkie talkies. My brothers and I had fun with them when we were kids. I’ve been looking for a good pair for my kids. Might have to give these a try.

  14. Amy Desrosiers

I really love the color of these and could use these around my home! Perfect for communicating when my husband is outdoors.

  15. parpar de real

This is a great radio! I would love to have these

  16. These have a lot of great features – the top for me is that they are waterproof. Thanks for sharing!
