Frozen Treat Social and Summer Memories

I remember that growing up some of my most favorite times were the Summers. My sister and I would spend weeks at my grandmothers house in North Carolina. The best part was that my older cousin April was around most of the time. My sister and I adored her.

We would scrounge all around my grandmothers house for change and try to do chores for money. All of this was so we could lie in wait for that magical melody that is the theme song of my childhood summers. The ice cream truck!

We were stalkers before they even had a name for it. We loved that truck and our day was a complete disappointment if our neighborhood was skipped, which didn’t happen often. We sometimes spent the entire day planning what we would get from the ice cream truck. We would weigh our choices and make plans so that no one got the same thing. This way, we could all try each others treats.

But this summer, everything changed because the red, white and blue popsicle came out. All of our plans went out the window. All three of us were in love with the red, white and blue. We must have gotten that popsicle every day for weeks. In fact, I have such fond memories of that summer and those popsicles that every time I see them in store, it makes me a laugh a little.

I love memories like that. I am trying to do things like that now with my children. We love to sit around our dining room table, enjoying frozen treats and just talking about our day. We all have our favorites so my freezer is almost always full.
