Red lipstick is such a huge trend these days. Not only is it a classic shade that so many beautiful women wear everyday but it is a great way to tie together a whole makeup look. Whether you are going for a beautiful lady-like classic look, or a bold sultry look it is all about choosing the right red for you. I'm sure you're a bit confused by what I mean, I bet you didn't know that there were several different shades of Red that are actually designed to look best with certain skin tones. Today I am going to be sharing with you how to choose the perfect red lip for you personally.
If you have a fair skin tone with very light hair what works best is a deeper berry colored red shade, however if you have a fair skin tone with red hair or more a darker shade, you should look for a red that has orangey undertones.
With a light-medium skin tone you will want to reach for a red with more pinkish undertones.
If you have an olive skin tone, what looks best tends to be actually a more orange than red colored lipstick. Look for colors that are described as orange-red, primarily orange with a hint of red.
Medium Skin TonesIf you have a medium skin tone with warm undertones in your skin, you are going to want to look for what is called a true red. There is no type of undertones or anything to it, just simply a pure red. On the other hand if you have a medium skin tone with more neutral-cool tones you will want to look for a red with blue undertones in it because this will enhance those cool tones in your skin.
With dark skin tones you will want to go for a deeper toned red with either blue undertones or berry-toned reds.
In the past if you have tried out red lipsticks and just absolutely hated it, chances are you just didn't choose the right one for your skin tone. Take these tips into account and keep trying out different shades of red until you find the one that best suits you!
