KRAFT 2% Milk Singles – 1/3 Less is More

I have always been a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches and my kids are too. They are the ultimate in comfort food and always easy to make. I watch the Food Network regularly and comfort food recipes are always a fan favorite.

I only use Kraft Singles. I grew up with Kraft Singles and have never changed brands. Honestly, I wouldn't even consider it. A grilled cheese sandwich with soup may just about be the most perfect meal.

BETTER -FOR-YOU REMAKE OF AN OLD FAVORITE

One reason that this partnership is so perfect is because Kraft Foods is dedicated to offering delicious and better-for-you choices that you can feel good about eating and serving your family.

A few years ago, when I realized that my youngest daughter may actually turn into a grilled cheese sandwich, I made it my mission to create a sandwich recipe that was better for my kids and our family.

First, I switched the bread. We now use the Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Whole Wheat bread. I spray each side with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! Then I pre-heat the pan and spray that with Pam.

I add four pieces of bread to the pan and lightly toast four sides. Flip the bread over and add a Kraft 2% Milk Single to two pieces of bread (although my husband always doubles up on the cheese). Let the cheese melt slightly.

Then put the sandwiches together in the pan to finish browning both sides. If the pan is looking a little dry, I sometimes add a few sprays of Can't Believe It's Not Butter! to the pan.

This better-for-you recipe did not really alter the taste of the sandwich. Kraft 2% Milk Singles are cheesy, creamy and melty just as you would expect cheese to be.

Sometimes we just make grilled cheese. Other times we may add ham or chicken. But every time, these sandwiches are a hit. So much so that my sister's kids ask me to make them every time they come over.

Instead, my hair swiftly turns into a helmet of frizz the longer the sun remains in the sky, and, defeated, I pull my hair back into a messy bun and accept my fate as a mousy librarian type.

    (I’d still be a mousy librarian type sans frizz, but at least I’d have nice hair. 🙂

    If I actually did my grocery shopping only 1/3 of the times I do now, a few good things would happen. We’d use a lot less gas than going every week (and who can afford gas?!) and I know that I’d save a lot of money by not buying all the extras we buy each week.

    I honestly don’t know what more we could do. We’ve already cut out most of our entertainment budget, got rid of cells, cable and buy discounted essentials. We so very rarely eat out.. maybe 1-2 times a year if that. Clothing and shoes are usually clearance.. and discounts on top of that.
