Hasbro Family Game Night Jenga

Family Game Night. How do you make family game nights fun and special in your home? Could have a nostalgic feel, playing the board games of my parent's youth, Monopoly, Connect 4, and Life.

Set the stage. We dim the lights, make certain that pillows are readily available and get everyone into their favorite spots. We also make certain that is a little colder than normal because we all get excited when we play which makes everyone a little overheated.

Plan great snacks. I also plan for great snacks whenever we play together.

Enforce the rules. We don't have a lot of rules when it comes to game playing in our family. However, we do not allow sore losers or sore winners. No bragging and no crying. Also, everyone has to finish the game. There is no quitting and no walking. We established these rules when we first started playing and have never had any issues.

Decide on teams. We pick teams before we even sit down to play. I make certain to alternate so that everyone gets a chance to play with each parent and each sibling.

Get great games. Picking great games is the key to a successful family night. Games have to be fun, winnable by everyone and visually appealing so that they hold interest. Our favorite games are Jenga, Twister, Connect 4, Life, and Monopoly.

Watch My Son's Spectacular Jenga Fail in Slow Mothing

My son lost at Jenga big time. However, the best part was his face as the pieces fell and the sound that the blocks made when falling. It sounds like a bowling alley. I tried to cut off most of my daughter's victory scream at the end of the video.
