The Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ is the creation of Australian kitchen appliance maker Breville, a company credited with manufacturing the original sandwich toaster. The concept of the Breville Smart Oven is the ability to cook virtually any type of food by adjusting the heat distribution accordingly. For instance, while baked goods need to be cooked evenly, meats need to be cooked on top with a sudden intense heat. Providing this ability is the Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven.
Designed as a convection toaster oven, the Breville BOV800XL is the largest of the three Smart Ovens currently available. Weighing 20 pounds, it has a length of 18.5 inches, width of 16.25 inches, and depth of 11.25 inches. Providing an interior that measures 0.8 cubic feet, it is big enough to bake a 13-inch pizza, or toast six slices of bread.
The Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven is housed in reinforced stainless steel for sturdiness, with the elements made of quartz for optimal response to heat change. A non-stick material coats the oven's interior. There's a tray that collects drips and crumbs at the bottom of the oven, and can be removed from the front for cleaning. Also included is a patented magnetic auto-eject rack for making food removal easier. The oven comes with a pan for baked goods, broil rack for cooking meats and fish, and a pan for making pizza.
The Breville BOV800XL uses Element IQ cooking technology. Rather than have a fixed wattage that can only be switched ON and OFF, the oven's Element IQ technology adjusts the power of the five individual quartz heating elements on the oven. This is meant to cook food in a more evenly and quicker fashion. The BOV800XL provides up to 1800 watts of high radiated heat, which is distributed through these elements from above and below the oven. Accompanying the cooking technology are nine pre-set functions, which correspond with the type of food being cooked or the manner of cooking. They are listed as Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, Reheat and Warm.
